European Union Reference Laboratory for Marine Biotoxins

Our functions are:

• To coordinate and advise the European and national networks in the identification of toxins and their control.
• To lead the development and roll-out of new methods of marine toxin detection in molluscs, and in the identification of new toxins that may be the cause of health problems.
• To advise the DG SANCO (European Commission) to develop the necessary legislation that adapts to technical demands of toxin control.
